PDEA clears San Fabian, Binalonan of drugs
THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Pangasinan officially declared the towns of San Fabian and Binalonan as drug-cleared, raising the total number of drug-cleared municipalities in the province to 34.
In an interview, PDEA-Pangasinan Director Retchie Camacho said both towns complied with documentary requirements and passed the Regional Oversight Committee’s evaluation on May 30.
Camacho explained that before barangays can be declared drug-free, the town or city are required to submit documents and subjected to a deliberation.
He noted that 23 barangays in Binalonan had long been drug-cleared, with only one remaining on the list under President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.
Recently, 34 barangays in San Fabian were also declared drug-cleared following the completion of the Balay Silangan Reformation Center’s rehabilitation program by 64 identified drug personalities in the 2016 Tokhang List.
PDEA-Pangasinan awarded the certificate of drug-cleared status to the officials of Binalonan on June 6. No schedule is set for San Fabian.
The towns of Dasol, Umingan, and San Nicolas are also set to be drug-cleared this month and July, said Camacho.
Camacho urged the drug-cleared local governments to remain vigilant to maintain their status. (Ahikam Pasion)
