THE Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Pangasinan is looking forward to the registration of 75,000 to 100,000 voters for the 2025 midterm national and local elections.

In an interview, Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Marino Salas said 67,000 voters have already registered since the process began on February 12 and will end on September this year.

Salas pointed out that Comelec is conducting off-site registrations in various malls, barangays, and schools and ongoing training sessions are being held for Comelec personnel.

Recently, Comelec-Pangasinan organized the Voter’s Education and Registration Fair at the Pangasinan State University-Lingayen campus on Monday. Over a thousand students from nine PSU campuses attended the event.

After the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in 2022, Comelec cleaned up the voter registration list by removing over a thousand voters who had either voted twice, passed away, or relocated.

Currently, Pangasinan has a total of 2.056 million voters.

Salas emphasized the importance of the right to suffrage for every Filipino. (Ahikam Pasion)
