TRADE AND HIGHER EDUCATION

PANGASINAN’S micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and Higher Education and Vocational sectors can look forward to a more responsive national legislature with the designation of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano as chair of two influential committees: the Committee on Trade, Commerce, and Entrepreneurship and the Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education.

These two new committee leadership add to the two committees which Cayetano currently chairs: the Committee on Accounts and the Committee on Science and Technology.

As the new chair of the Committee on Trade, Commerce, and Entrepreneurship, Cayetano will oversee matters crucial to both domestic and international trade particularly for the development of MSMEs, and regulation of entrepreneurial practices and consumer protection.

His Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education is expected to address issues directly related to post-secondary and tertiary education, technical education, distance learning, and vocational training. His position makes him a board member of Pangasinan State University and other government college institutions. His agenda includes enhancing the welfare of teachers and students by managing scholarships, grants, and incentives.

With Cayetano’s extensive experience in local government issues, Pangasinan will surely benefit with him at the helm of these four committees.

He and his sister Senator Pia recently provided support for the enhancement of the Capitol’s premises. (Contributed)
