THE Committee on Finance, Budget and Appropriations of the Sangguniang Panlungsod is set to wind up its committee hearings on the 2024 annul budget of Dagupan on March 5 after the Local Finance Committee of the city and the officer-in-charge of the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PTCAO) make their presentation.

This was bared by City Secretary Ryan Ravanzo after Councilor Redford Erfe-Mejia, chair of the committee on finance, budget and appropriations, directed him to consolidate all the reports presented by department heads for the  committee to act on.

The Local Finance Committee of the city is composed of the City Treasurer, City Accountant, City Budget Officer, City Planning and Development Officer, City Administrator, Atty. Aurora Valle who was designated as such by Mayor Belen Fernandez in addition to her duties as City Legal Officer.

Mayor Fernandez appeared before the ninth weekly committee last February 27 to defend the P1.38 million annual budget of Dagupan, particularly its infrastructure fund of P156 million. She was accompanied by City Legal Officer Valle and Executive Assistant Luz de Guzman.

Mayor Fernandez said the executive department submitted all documents requested by the committee “and there is no reason therefore for the body not to endorse the passage of the annual budget long been awaited by the people of Dagupan City, including employees, volunteer workers and retirees.”

The original copies of presentations had been submitted as required by the committee.

Fernandez lamented that Dagupan is again the only local government unit in the country without an approved annual budget for 2024, operating on a reenacted 2023 budget. (Leonardo Micua)
