2024 GOOD FINANCIAL HOUSEKEEPING

ALL local government units in Pangasinan, except one, were acknowledged by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) as recipients of the 2023 Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH).

In an announcement last week, DILG said the provincial government of Pangasinan and its four cities—Dagupan, San Carlos, Urdaneta and Alaminos—as well as 43 of its 44 towns are Good Financial Housekeeping passers for 2023.

A cursory examination of the list released by DILG showed that only the town of Mangaldan was not among the 2023 GFH passers.

The list includes Agno, Aguilar, Alcala, Anda, Asingan, Balungao, Bani, Basista, Bautista, Bayambang, Binalonan, Binmaley, Bolinao, Burgos, Calasiao, Dasol, Infanta, Labrador, Laoag, Lingayen, Mabini, Malasiqui, Manaoag;

Mangatarem, Mapandan, Natividad, Pozorrubio, Rosales, San Fabian, San Jacinto, San Manuel, San Nicolas, San Quintin, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, Santo Tomas, Sison, Sual, Tayug, Umingan, Urbiztondo and Villasis.

DILG said 126 out of the 129 LGUs in Region 1 passed the standards set.

GFH serves as an assessment tool used to measure the performance of the local government in terms for establishing citizen engagement through a transparent reporting of public budget and expenditures.

The Seal of GFH requires established accounting and auditing standards, compliance with the full disclosure policies, wide management of resources and effective utilization of available tools for local development.

Informed that Dagupan made it in the list of GFH list, Mayor Belen Fernandez thanked Interior and Local Government Secretary for recognizing the city’s effective management of its resources well for the benefit of its populace. (Leonardo Micua)
