Restricted access to Urduja Compound ordered
IS the Urduja House, the official residence of the provincial governor, under security threat?
This question cropped up after The PUNCH got a copy of a memorandum (No. 004, Series of 2024) dated January 4, 2024 signed by Provincial Administrator Melicio Patague II.
Subject of the memorandum is the implementation of “enhanced security measures” at Urduja Compound and was addressed to all chiefs of offices and all hospitals.
The memorandum states that “in light of our ongoing commitment to the safety and security of Urduja Compound, we are implementing stricter access controls effective immediately”.
In line with the memorandum, Patague ordered access restriction as well as appointment requirement at the Urduja Compound so no unauthorized persons will henceforth be permitted to enter Urduja Compound.
Entry will only be granted to those with scheduled appointments verified and confirmed with the Provincial Administrator or the Governor’s Secretary.
Patague said these measures are essential for maintaining a secured work environment and safeguarding sensitive information.
He enjoined that the cooperation of all heads of offices and heads of all hospitals “to these guidelines is crucial”.
