MBTF: SP majority bent on stopping projects for people
IMPLEMENTATION of 20 of 23 projects funded by the 20 percent development fund in the 2023 annual budget are ongoing but the majority members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod appear bent on stopping these by questioning the passage of the supplementary budget in court.
The situation was cited by Mayor Belen Fernandez in her speech when she led the 79th year of commemoration of the landing of General Douglas Mac Arthur in the shores of Dagupan on January 9, 1945.
The ongoing projects, she said, include five school buildings, two site development projects and 11 or 12 road projects that need to be elevated located in various barangays.
The seven councilors, namely Councilors Redford Erfe-Mejia, Alfie Fernandez, Librada Reyna-Macalanda, Celia Chua-Lim, Alvin Coquia, Irene Lim-Acosta and Marilyn Fernandez, insisted that the 2023 annual budget was irregularly passed, and reportedly filed a case before the Regional Trial Court of Dagupan City that named her, Vice Mayor Bryan Kua, the five minority councilors and City Legal Officer Aurora Valle as respondents.
