2023 BANNER PROGRAMS

MAYOR Belen Fernandez considers home visits to sick residents by health professionals like doctors, nurses and midwives as a banner program of the Dagupan City government for year 2023.

Speaking to newsmen before the year-end, Fernandez said it was her presentation of the city government’s home visit program during the Women World Leaders Forum in China last November that earned compliments the most among the participants.

Under the home visit  program, which is a part of the mayor’s larger Unliserbisyo Program for indigents Dagupenos, sick residents need no longer be brought to the nearest health center because they are regularly visited and provided medicines by health professionals from the City Health Office.

Patients that needed thorough diagnosis, were brought to either Dagupan Diagnostic Center or to the hospital for CT scan, x-ray and laboratory examinations.

Other programs she described that earned praises were projects that provided financial assistance and livelihood for solo parents and their children, indigent families and senior citizens.

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go provided ayuda to some of Dagupan’s poor, Fernandez said.

She said other banner programs of the city government were infrastructure projects contributed by Senators Imee Marcos, Jinggoy Estrada, Riza Hontiveros, Joel Villanueva, Francis Tolentino, Sonny Angara and Senators Pia  Cayetano, and Alan Peter Cayetano, and from partylist Abono.

Fernandez said she had to appeal for help from senators because the city was operating on a reenacted budget that did not provide for new and upgrading of school buildings. (Leonardo Micua)
