33 persons treated at R1MC during New Year’s revelry
FROM FIRECRACKERS, STRAY BULLETS
THIRTY-THREE persons in Dagupan and in adjacent areas were rushed to the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) from December 24, 2023 to January 2, 2024 for treatment for injuries suffered during New Year’s revelry.
Of the 33, one lost his fingers and three suffered injuries in the eyes. Ohers were treated for burned skins from firecracker explosions. Two were hit by stray bullets.
It was on December 25 when seven persons in Claveria Street in Barangay Malued, Dagupan City, were injured when a lighted matchstick was carelessly thrown on a pile of firecrackers being reserved for New Year after lighting a cigarette.
Consequently, one died while the six others are still confined at R1MC for severe burnt skin.
R1MC opened its doors to victims of firecracker explosions as early as December 20 in support of Oplan Iwas Paputok 2023. (Leonardo Micua)
