DAGUPAN FIREMEN’S FRUSTRATION

THE Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Dagupan City urges netizens to immediately report fire incidents in an area before going ‘live’ on social media.

Senior Fire Officer 3 Rovir Solar, Dagupan BFP chief deputy fire marshal, made the appeal after noting that some fire incidents in the city were reported late but these are posted online minutes earlier.

He noted that netizens who see the start of fire would rather do a “scoop” on Facebook than prioritize calling the fire department as an immediate response.

“Tapos sisisihin nila na nasaan daw ang bumbero, pero hindi pa pala sila tumatawag sa fire station”, Solar lamented.

Solar said they are not superheroes who can easily identify the location of the ongoing fire.

As investigation and survey of the local fire station also reveals, majority of Dagupeños are not aware of the local phone numbers of BFP Dagupan to call in case of emergencies.

The BFP Dagupan numbers are 522 2772 AND 0917 184 2611. The numbers are on standby 24/7. (Ahikam Pasion)
