CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS BEING RUSHED

MAYOR Belen Fernandez called on the residents and the business community to remain patient while several construction projects in Dagupan to address the frequent flooding in the city are being rushed.

One of the measures taken to further speed up the completion of the elevation of the drainage and the street level is the temporary designation of Arellano Road as a one-way street starting from October 8, allowing contractors to work more efficiently.

Mayor Fernandez clarified that she had discussions with officials of universities affected by the road construction expressed supports for the construction projects, that included Universidad de Dagupan.

The mayor also revealed plans to raise the pedestrian footbridge in front of Nepo Mall to provide higher clearance for vehicles passing underneath.

Additionally, the DPWH will assist the city in paving the sidewalks on both sides of Arellano Street.

To ensure that all road elevation and drainage projects in Dagupan stay on schedule, Mayor Fernandez urged contractors to work continuously, 24/7.

She instructed the OIC City Engineer, Josephine Corpuz, to assign an engineer to monitor the projects round-the-clock.

While the elevation of Arellano Road and the construction of a higher and wider drainage system are progressing rapidly, work on part of Perez Boulevard from the Magsaysay Bridge to the Perez Boulevard-Mayombo Road intersection has just started.

Construction of an elevated and expanded drainage system along A.B. Fernandez Avenue from the Arellano junction to Quintos Bridge is also ongoing. (Leonardo Micua)
