THE joint security control center, manned by the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), was activated for the filing of certificates of candidacy for aspiring candidates for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) that starts tomorrow August 28.

Atty. Marino Salas, provincial election supervisor, said filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) will begin on Monday, August 28, despite said date being a national holiday and will end on September 2, Saturday.

Salas said policemen and other force multipliers will be deployed in COC filing areas.

In Dagupan City, P/LtCol Brendon Palisoc, chief of police, said 100 policemen will be deployed at the COC filing area at the Dagupan City People’s Astrodome while more uniformed police personnel will be visible in the barangays.

Salas currently clarified no political tension is brewing, but they would not be complacent.

“Kahit walang tension, baka ngayon lang yan. Maaaring magkaroon habang papalapit yung election day, so we have to be vigilant”, said Salas.

Salas reminded the public that the gun ban will be strictly enforced and the PPPO will establish election checkpoints throughout the province to prevent election-related crimes. (Ahikam Pasion)
