Funding for Romulo Bridge assured – Rep. Arenas
THIRD District Rep. Rachel Arenas assured her constituents that the re-construction of a permanent Carlos P. Romulo Bridge in Bayambang is in the offing.
Arenas shared this good news on her official Facebook page, saying that Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel Bonoan visited them in Congress to discuss projects including her district, before the first regular session of Congress ended.
The funding for the collapsed Carlos P. Romulo Bridge in Bayambang was discussed, she said. It may be recalled that the bridge situated in Barangay Wawa collapsed in October last year.
She added that she personally appealed to the national government to help reconstruct a permanent modern, sturdier and safer bridge for the people.
She also thanked the DPWH for its prompt action to build a temporary bridge after Romulo Bridge collapsed.
Arenas said an initial P200-million will be allocated to jumpstart the reconstruction of a new Carlos P. Romulo Bridge.
This good news from Cong. Arenas was shared by Mayor Niña Jose-Quiambao when she delivered her State of the Municipality Address on July 5 and was applauded by the crowd.
“Aside from these, with the help of Congressman Rachel Arenas, the fund (for its reconstruction) is already secured for the construction of a new bridge,” Mayor Quiambao said. (Eva Visperas)
