MALACANANG declared June 20 as a special non-working holiday in Dagupan City when the city celebrates its 76th anniversary or ‘Agew na Dagupan’ (Dagupan Day).

Proclamation No. 225  signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin was issued in behalf of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., entitled “Declaring Tuesday, 20 June 2023, a Special (Non-Working) Day in the City of Dagupan.”

The proclamation was transmitted to Mayor Been Fernandez by Atty. Concepcion Frolino-Enad, Director IV, of Malacanang’s Record Office dated June 14, 2023.

Dagupan was created as a city 76 years ago following the signing by President Manuel Roxas of Republic Act 170 authored by late Speaker Eugenio Perez Sr., revered since as Father of Dagupan.

The city had just celebrated its 75th Diamond Anniversary, marked by crowd-drawing fun-filled activities over a period of one year, presided over by Mayor Fernandez. (Leonardo Micua)
