Beware of 42 to 46 degrees Celsius daily heat index – CDRRMO

DESPITE the rains almost every day on account of the approaching monsoon season, the prevailing heat index in Dagupan City, from 42 to 46 degrees Celsius, will continue.

This was confirmed by Dagupan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Ronald de Guzman, as he assured that the Dagupan City El Niño task force formed by Mayor Belen Fernandez is doing its best to help cushion the impact of El Niño in the city.

Speaking during the flag-raising ceremony at the city plaza on May 29, De Guzman warned that because of the daily high heat index in the city, senior citizens and persons who are immuno-compromised, will be at risk and must observe caution by staying indoors from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily.

De Guzman said the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management’s emergency response team already rushed four persons recently to the Region 1 Medical Center for heat stroke, heat exhaustion and hypertension.

He advised residents to use umbrellas to protect them when the heat of the sun is at its highest from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and  drink water instead of energy drink to stay hydrated. (Leonardo Micua)
