4 PNP PROV’L STATIONS TO BE TESTED NEXT

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) commended the officers and men of Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) at Camp Brig. General Oscar M. Florendo in San Fernando City, La Union, for making their area a ‘Drug-Free Workplace.’

The commendation was presented by PDEA Regional Director  Joel Plaza to PRO 1 headed by Brigadier General John Chua for institutionalizing a Drug-Free Workplace policy, during last Monday’s flag-raising ceremony that was followed by a program on DILG’s Buhay Ingatan, Droga Iwasan (BIDA) at PRO 1 grandstand.

Director Plaza thanked the men and women of PRO 1 for establishing a drug-free workplace, emphasizing its importance after presenting the commendation.

“Remember it is not only the drug users who are exposed to injury and deterioration on account of illegal drugs but everyone around them as well. This is the risk that the Drug-Free Workplace Program was able to diminish,” he intoned.

Records show that 1,384 PNP personnel assigned at the Regional Headquarters and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 1 were made to take surprise drug tests and all yielded negative results for the presence of any illegal drugs. The drug testing was facilitated by the Regional Forensic Unit 1.

All personnel of PRO 1’s four provincial offices, town and city police stations are expected to undergo similar drug testing to also earn the distinction of being drug-free work places.

The activity was highlighted by the unveiling of a Drug-Free Work Place marker at PRO 1. (Leonardo Micua)
