Region 1’s poorest families found in Pangasinan

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has listed Pangasinan as the province in Region l 1 with the poorest households.

DSWD’s 2022 Listahan 3 Database recorded 974,861 total assessed households in the country and 184,716 poor households were listed in Region I where 155,529 households (or 85%) were located in Pangasinan.

Ilocos Sur listed 14,361 households, Ilocos Norte had 10,208, and La Union, 4,618 households.

However, DSWD Ilocos Assistant Regional Director Anniely Ferrer pointed out at the Ilocos Regional Development Council Meeting that Pangasinan has the largest land area and population in Ilocandia.

Meanwhile, out of the total 184,716 poor households recorded in the region, only 56,750 indigent households qualify as potential beneficiaries for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) gathered from the Listahan 3 Database: 48,729 households from Pangasinan, 4,031 from Ilocos Sur, 3,230 from Ilocos Norte, and 761 from La Union.
