EIGHTY-two axed traffic enforcers, once belonging to the Dagupan City Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) continue their jobs, albeit as a volunteer.

The volunteers are prepared to continue to assist in managing the daily traffic situation in the city’s main roads until this year’s Bangus Festival.

Arvin Decano, Dagupan POSO Chief, said despite salary constraints due to the ongoing budget problems in the city, the volunteers were contracted as Job Order Employees but their salaries were terminated by the approved 2023 budget .

The volunteers will continue their setup and fulfill their assignment, and are expected to be paid once funding for their compensation is restored in the reenacted budget.

Mayor Belen Fernandez said she expects the axed JOEs to return to their respective duties and be compensated accordingly soon. (Ahikam Pasion)
