Mini-dump truck falls from hill in Daang Katutubo

3 DEAD, 32 INJURED

THREE persons were killed and 32 persons injured when a mini dump truck that was overloaded with 35 passengers fell from a hill when it developed engine trouble along the newly built Daang Katutubo in Sitio Mapita, Barabgay Laoag in Aguilar at about 6:00 p.m. on March 2, according to a report of the Pangasinan Police provincial office.

As a result of the mechanical trouble, the vehicle fell from the hillside, pinning many of its passengers under. All the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The dead and the injured were the company’s construction workers who were already going home after a day’s work.

The mini-dump truck owned by one Cardon Cabangon, owner of 888 Construction Service, and driven by one Erick Erames, 34, of Cavite City, was going downhill in the west direction when the accident happened.

The dead employees were Pedro Bravejos, 57, of Poblacion, Aguilar; Gualberto Guave, 47, of Pogumboa, Aguilar; and Leo Gamueda, 64, a construction worker, of Tampac, Aguilar.

Erames, who was among those listed as injured, was placed by the Aguilar police on hospital arrest. (Leonardo Micua)
