Only 18k register for barangay, SK elections

THE Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Pangasinan recorded 17,971 new registrants for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on October 2023.

Atty. Marino Salas, provincial election supervisor, said 7,275 are SK voters, while 10,690 as regular voters.

Salas projects an uptick in the number of registrations when registration ends on January 31 and no extension will be made.. His office aims to register 50,000 voters.

The areas in Pangasinan with the highest registration turnout to date are Dagupan City, San Carlos City, Malasiqui, Bayambang, and Calasiao.

The total registered voters in Pangasinan up until August 2022 last year are 2,124,450.

COMELEC offices are open from Monday to Saturday, 8am to 5pm. Schedule of off-site registrations can be verified in Facebook accounts in their towns.

The BSKE will be held on October 23, 2023. (Ahikam Pasion)
