Brgy Kaps slam non-passage of Supplemental Budget No.1
THE Liga ng Barangay (LnB) in Dagupan City manifested its dismay and exasperation on seeing the plans and programs of the city government for the barangays completely derailed by the majority members of the SP who succeeded in blocking the Supplemental Budget No. 1 up to the last day.
The Liga’s resolution No. 03, series of 2022, had reiterated to the majority members that more than ever, the Punong Barangays have never been as united as now in their call and appeal for the passage of the proposed 2022 Supplemental Budget and its annual investment plan and other integral plans.
The Liga’s resolution urged the elected members of the Sanggunian “to listen to the plea of our constituents after having witnessed the repeated inaction despite our collective physical presence to speak for, defend and support the measures without delay”.
The Punong Barangays are regular members of the City Development Council that studied, evaluated and reviewed the programs, projects and activities and the corresponding allocations.
They said they strongly supported the approval of the two measures because these were intended to provide basic goods and services and other necessities that include, purchase and delivery of medicines, the construction of vital health facilities and infrastructures to benefit the sick, the elderly and the youth.
They said the blocking of the proposed supplemental budgets greatly affected a big number of their constituents who were in dire need of the programmed goods and services, adding that their own respective programs in the barangays were derailed as well. (Leonardo Micua)
