Pangasinan PNP on red alert for CPP founding day

THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) raised the red alert status in anticipation of the 54th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines on December 26.

P/Colonel Jeff Fanged, PPPO director, said he ordered the provincial police force to expand their monitoring operations in the province, particularly, in barangays located in mountainous and remote areas.

All police stations have been ordered to go on full alert despite Pangasinan being classified as a white security area in reaction to CPP ‘s statement that it will not declare a ceasefire, despite the death of its founding chairman Jose Maria Sison last December 16.

It will be recalled CPP finds significance in Pangasinan because the far-left revolutionary organization was founded in Barangay Dulacac in Alaminos City on December 26, 1968.

In 2017, Joma Sison confirmed in an interview that the CPP was founded in a bamboo hut in an area owned by the in-laws of another founding member Arthur Garcia.

Sison said the founding members commuted from Metro Manila to Alaminos onboard a Pantranco bus, and walked to the barangay located uphill.

While the CPP announced a ten-day mourning period two days after the death of Sison, it said it will still launch offensives against the government forces. (Ahikam Pasion)
