‘COUNT ME IN’ MOVEMENT

A NATIONAL digital petition was launched on Friday, November 4, in Laoac town to convince both Houses of Congress to implement the Hybrid Election System (HES) n 2025.

The ‘Count Me In’ campaign for the HES is led by Laoac Vice Mayor Atty. Nelson V. Gayo.

Gayo said the current Automated Election System failed to protect the integrity and credibility of the elections, particularly, the guarantee that a vote cast was counted.

Since the HES will provide a parallel manual count per precinct in sync with automated count, he said, it assures that vote-count forwarded to the Board of Canvassers is accurate.

“This will ensure that our votes are being counted. Mayroong transparency and accountability”, said Gayo in a press conference.

While there have been many similar petitions filed in Congress, Gayo expects ‘Count Me In’  campaign will have greater impact because of its grassroots-based approach.

Gayo said student leaders and non-government organizations (NGOs) have been tapped to promote the campaign and educational caravans and voter education on the advantages of the Hybrid Election System will be pursued.
