Dagupan logs 16 HFMD cases, patients in 14 towns reported

SIXTEEN cases of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) have been recorded in Dagupan City while 70 cases were reported by other towns and cities in Pangasinan.

Dr. Ophelia Rivera, Dagupan City health officer, said the patients are aged four to nine some of whom reportedly acquired the disease in hospitals.

In Pangasinan, among towns and cities that confirmed cases were Dagupan City, Balungao, Calasiao, Rosales, Bolinao, Mangaldan, Malasiqui, Alaminos City, Bolinao, Bugallon, San Jacinto, Umingan, Sta. Barbara, Villasis, and Urdaneta City.

In Region 1, the regions’s Department of Health – Center for Health Development has confirmed that 35 towns in Ilocandia also recorded cases of HFMD.

Health authorities are warning the public against the HFMD symptoms: fever, mouth sores, skin rashes on hands and feet, particularly in children.

While not lethal, the sickness is very contagious other symptoms may include fever, loss of appetite, inflammation of the throat. (Ahikam Pasion)
