MBTF prioritizes education in 2022-2023 budgets

EDUCATION got P657,078,297.78 allocations in both proposed investment plan under Supplemental Budget of 2022 and the proposed Annual Budget for Calendar Year 2023.
The supplemental budget approved recently by the Local Development Council (LDC), both of which will be forwarded to the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) shortly for approval.
It is the biggest allocation for education by any city administration in the entire 75-year history of Dagupan, said Mayor Belen Fernandez during the celebration of the World Teachers’ Day, attended by teachers of DepEd Dagupan and their officials held on Wednesday at CSI Stadia.
On World Teachers’ Day, Fernandez also announced that the city allowance of teachers as well as their internet allowance, are now ready for release. Before she ended her term in 2019, Fernandez allocated P4 million as additional allowance for all teachers of Dagupan, which they continue to receive till today.
At the LDP meeting, Fernandez discussed all the programs and projects that her administration intends to pursue in the remaining months of 2022 and the whole year of 2023 with barangay captains, members of civil society organizations and non-government organizations.
The consolidated projects for education for CY 2022 and CY 2223 include:
For CY 2022 annual budget—Scholarship program, P104,616,000; Dagupan City Children’s Chorale, P178,000; Special Education Fund, P20,285,464.72; Construction of two-stores six classroom school building at Salisay Elementary School, P20,000,000; City Library Office, P10,291,146.77; City Schools Division Office, P1,299,192.29; and City Schools Division Office, P1,229,192.29.
CY 2022 Supplemental Budget No. 1–Additional outlay for the Scholarship Grants/Expense under Scholarship Program of the City, P100,000,000; Construction of Covered Court Gymnasium at Pugaro Integrated School, P9,000,000; Improvement of two swimming pools at Poblacion Oeste, P1,600,000; Improvement of various Covered Courts (Calmay ES, Malued E/S, Bonuan Boquig E/S, East Central E/S, Dagupan City National High School E/S, Tambac E/S, Bacayao Norte, Bacayao Sur and Pogo Chico, P4,000,000; and Improvement of various school buildings, P4,500,000.
