TWO new offices created by the administration of Gov. Ramon Guico III were finally funded when the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) passed Supplemental Budget No. 5 that appropriated P102,203,667 during its regular session on Monday (October  17).

The supplemental budget will fund the operations of various offices, including the newly created Provincial Economic Development and Promotions Office (PEDPO) and the Provincial Hospital Management Service Office (PHMSO) up to the end of 2022.

Third District Board Member Vici Ventanilla, chairman of the committee on appropriations, said the allotted fund was sourced from the reversion of obligated allotments and reversion of continuing  appropriations.

The creation of the PEDPO was the very first ordinance enacted by the SP at the request of Governor Guico to spearhead the campaign for more local and foreign investments into the province that will create jobs, and generate more taxes for the provincial government.

On the other hand, the PGHMSO headed by Dr. Dalvi Casilang, seeks to modernize and systematize the operations of the 14 provincial government-run hospitals led by the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos City.

According to Ventanilla, approval of the supplemental budget will facilitate the smooth operations not only of the two newly created offices but all the offices of the provincial government.

The SP was approved Supplemental Investment Program No. 5 for 2022.

Also sponsored by Ventanilla, the Supplemental Investment Program lists priority programs and projects not included in the regular annual investment program of the province, infrastructure projects and various road projects damaged by both Typhoons Florita and Karding. (Leonardo Micua)
