Dagupan PNP sends SOS: No budget for gas
ONLY 49 CENTAVOS LEFT IN COFFERS
UNTIL the Dagupan City Police Station is provided a budget for fuel and oil, it cannot be expected to operate fully and effectively with only 49 centavos remaining to operate its 7 patrol units and motorcycles.
This was revealed by P/Lt. Colonel Vicente Castor Jr., OIC chief of police Dagupan, when he addressed the Sanggunian Panlungsod Tuesday during his courtesy call.
“Our budget for fuel and lubricants is very important to us because we have seven patrol vehicles and a tactical motorcycle driving team,” Castor said.
Councilor and Minority Leader Michael Fernandez said records show that from the budget P1.5 million on gasoline and lubricant under the peace and order program this year, P1.499,099 was already spent, with a remaining balance of 49 centavos.
Fernandez asked the SP to pass the supplemental budget proposed by the office of Mayor Belen Fernandez so peace and order in Dagupan will not be compromised.
City Budget Officer Jessa Rayopa explained that only P1.5 million budget was allocated under the peace and order program this year, from P3 million budget in 2021 because there were many services that were devolved to LGU Dagupan this year that needed to be funded.
She also pointed out that since approval of the 2022 budget was delayed and no supplemental budget can be enacted without the annual budget being approved first, the allocation for fuel and lubricants of the police was not provided.
Meanwhile, Pastor assured that under his watch, he will not tolerate scalawags in the police, especially those who violate human rights.
“We will commit our personnel and all assets of the PNP in Dagupan in the prevention of crimes and the solution of the same. We will also harmonize our programs in Kasimbayanan with the local executive and the Sanggunian because if there is no harmonization, we will fail in our jobs as police officers,” he said.
He said enforcement of law and order in Dagupan will be pursued without fear and favor as he assured that all policemen under his watch will be God-fearing. (Leonardo Micua)
