CENPELCO APOLOGIZES FOR HUMAN ERROR

WHAT would you do if your electric bill says you have to pay more than P1 million for your last month’s consumption?

This was the electric bill that a family in Barangay Laoag in Aguilar town, received making it pay P 1,473,533.36!

In a viral Facebook post, the household posted its complaint and the ludicrousness of its latest the billing statement when the family’s September billing and previous months’ billings only averaged around P1,500.

Upon closer inspection of said electric bill, it revealed that the meter inspector appeared to have mistakenly encoded 13931 of their previous reading – or one digit more compared to the 1406 previous meter reading.

The post went viral and the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (Cenpelco) was bashed thoroughly even before it could even set the record straight.

CENPELCO publicly apologized to the affected confusion soon clarified in its Facebook account that it was an error in meter reading and it should only cost the household P1,334.43.

“The situation was isolated and purely human error by the Meter Reader and has no intention to deceive the consumer”, CENPELCO statement said. (Ahikam Pasion)
