Election period, gun ban ends June 8
THE election period and the Comelec gun ban will end on June 8.
This was a reminder given by P/Lt. Colonel Ferdinand de Asis, deputy provincial director for operations, during the Question Hour of Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) session on May 26.
He was, however, quick to point out that though the election period and the gun ban will end on June 8, PNP’s anti-criminality operations will still continue.
He said the police in Pangasinan had converted its 57 internal quarantine checkpoints into both Comelec checkpoints and anti-criminality checkpoints since the start of the election period while 20 quarantine checkpoints (two provincial and 18 regional) to check the entry of contagious sub-variants.
Enforcement of minimum health protocol by the provincial police resulted in the apprehension 4,243 violators from January 1, 2022 to May 25, 2022. Apprehended without face masks were 1,956 individuals and 1,794 curfew violators. (Leonardo Micua)
