DILG cites nine barangays in Pangasinan as SGLGB awardees

DAGUPAN City’s Barangay Pantal and eight other barangays in Pangasinan will receive the 2022 Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB).

The other awardees are Barangays Portic in Bugallon, Magsaysay in Labrador; Loqueb Este, in Malasiqui; Bantayan in Mangaldan; Batchelor West in Natividad; San Pedro West in Rosales, and Lilimasen in San Carlos City.

SGLGB is an annual awards program of the Department of the Interior and Local Government that recognizes barangays with exemplary performance in all core areas of governance implemented yearly.

The SGLGB works on a progressive assessment system putting primacy to integrity and good governance in pursuit of meaningful local autonomy and development.

To qualify for the SGLGB, the barangays must pass three essential areas: (1) social protection and sensitivity; (2) business friendliness; and (3) competitiveness, or environmental management.

Aside from these, the Barangays must also pass three core areas such as on Safety, Peace and Order.

On Safety, Peace and Order, barangay must have a functional anti-drug abuse council and Barangays Peace and Order Council, implemented the Barangay Drug Clearing Program and has mechanics on the prevention and control of Covid.

On Financial Administration and Sustainability; and Compliance to Full Disclosure Policy, the barangay must have outstanding practice of accountability and transparency that  adheres accounting and auditing standards and complies with the Barangay Full Disclosure Policy. (Leonardo Micua)
