THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) confirmed that there are seven towns in Pangasinan that have been placed under the “Orange Category” for the May 9 national and local elections (NLE).

PPPO director Col. Richmond Tadina identified the seven municipalities as Urbiztondo, Sual, Sto. Tomas, Bolinao, Calasiao, Rosales, and Sison.

Category Orange, refers to areas where, in addition to conditions that would qualify an area as Category Yellow, there are likewise serious armed threats posed by domestic terror groups and other analogous armed groups.

The COMELEC, the PNP and the AFP, identified and classified election hotspots using three classifications: green, yellow, orange, and red.

Categories Green – no security concern and are relatively peaceful and orderly; Yellow – with a history of election related violence or the existence of intense partisan political rivalry, but without the participation of domestic terror groups; and Red – while being under Category Orange, relevant government agencies declare the existence of conditions which may constitute grounds for the declaration of Comelec Control.

He said these areas were placed by the Commission on Elections en banc under “Category Orange” because of previous election-related incidents and intense political rivalry.

“All other towns and cities have been placed under Category Yellow,” Tadina said.

Meanwhile, Tadina said  PPPO will deploy two police personnel per voting center while security preparations are in place in hard to reach barangays and the Quick response teams also will be on alert.

“We were required to install CCTV cameras in all polling centers kung hindi kaya, isolated areas will be manned by PNP personnel to ensure peace and order,” he said.

Moreover, a simultaneous logistical readiness test and dispatch ceremony was held earlier today at the PPPO. (Jerick Pasiliao)
