Pangasinan can expect ‘model good governance’ – Mon-mon Guico
NEWLY elected governor Ramon “Mon-Mon” Guico III assured Pangasinenses that they can expect a model of good governance through a transparent and excellent service from his administration.
He assured on Wednesday that Pangasinan’s clamor for change and support will not go to waste as he will work hard to fulfill his campaign promises that involve big ticket projects.
“Campaign is over. Election is over. The people have decided. Now let’s get to work. This is the real reason why we decided to run and challenge the current administration,” he said in a press conference held after the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) proclaimed him as winner on May 10.
Guico said his administration will focus on creating more jobs by expanding functions of economic zones, improving the healthcare system, computerization of systems in the provincial capitol, building accessible and efficient transportation services, boosting the province’s tourism industry, environmental protection, education, among others.
“We have to model ourselves as a transparent, excellent service by showing good governance to the people who entrusted the province to us. In addition, of course, we are one, we do not work individually but we have to work as a group. So we will use our strengths and all our advantages and work as one towards one direction,” he added.
He said his administration is keen on building the eastern to western Pangasinan expressway, a massive infrastructure project that will create additional jobs and will provide access to efficient travel to famous tourist destinations from the first to sixth district of Pangasinan.
On environmental protection, Guico said the provincial government could establish forest rangers “to guard our environment and provide alternative means of livelihood to our constituents so that they will not burn and make charcoal out of the trees in the mountains.”
He also plans to build a commercial regional airports and seaports in western Pangasinan particularly in Alaminos City, Sual and Infanta town.
“I will be the ambassador of the province, the primary marketer of the province to entice so many investors dito sa ating lalawigan because more investments equals more jobs,” he added.
On the improvement of the healthcare system, Guico said his administration will be linking each hospital to each other via computerization of medical records and improve its medical and diagnostics equipment, and competence of the doctors and medical professionals.
“We are excited to start the ball rolling and make changes in the provincial capitol,” said Guico
“Thank you Pangasinan for your trust. Thank you for giving us a chance to serve our province and serve our people,” Guico said. (PIA Pangasinan/EMSA)
