WANTED: UPDATE ON CITY PROJECTS

THE Dagupan Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) held a zoom session to discuss pending infrastructure programs and passed a resolution requesting City Engineer Nestor de Vera to submit a written update on the construction of the Revenue Generation Center in front of the old City Hall after City Mayor Brian Lim prevented the latter to hold a face-to-face session with the councilors at the City Engineering Office last Thursday.

According to the Dagupan SP secretariat the planned face-to-face discussion with the city engineer was part of the ongoing hearing of the SP on the 2022 annual city budget that remains pending before the SP, pertaining to the proposed budget of the city engineering office and ongoing but not yet completed projects under the Lim administration.

The invitation of the SP to De Vera to appear in next session of the SP still stands, according to Councilor Michael Fernandez, chairman of the SP committee on appropriations.

Mayor Lim responded to the invitation of  the SP to De Vera to attend the SP face-to face session at the city engineering office, in which the mayor said he will not allow the official to attend the face-to face session of the SP and more so for the body for the SP to hold its face-to-face session at the city engineering office.

The SP is keen on De Vera’s update on the construction of the Revenue Generation Center (also known as One-Stop Shop building), because of the plan that it will be situated at the same site where Mayor Lim announced a new Dagupan City hall will rise.

Also invited to SP’s next week’s session of is City Treasurer Romelita Alcantara who was asked to submit a copy of report of the expenses of the city from January 1 to May 19 since the city continues to operate on the reenacted budget passed  in 2021.

Meanwhile, the SP passed a resolution approving the submitted Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan Fund.  (Leonardo Micua)
