Belen-BK tandem earns INC endorsement
FORMER Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez and her running-mate Vice Mayor Bryan Kua thanked the hierarchy of the Iglesia ni Cristo headed by Eduardo Manalo profusely for endorsing their candidacies in their bid for the mayoralty and vice mayoralty posts in the May 9 local election.
“Me and my family as well as the team Belen BK are happy and thankful for the trust and support you have given me,” Fernandez stressed in her message of gratitude to the INC. “Rest assured that I will forever treasure this trust reposed on me by giving true, exemplary, clean and honest governance in the city of Dagupan,” she added.
Both Fernandez and Kua as well as most of their teammates vying for councilor posts have been leading their respective rivals in unofficial surveys conducted by independent pollsters and on online.
Also endorsed by INC are: Michael Fernandez, Dennis Canto, Teresa Coquia, (Team Belen); Dada Reyna, Irene-Lim Acosta, Celia Lim, Red Erfe-Mejia, Alvin Coquia, Marilou Fernandez, and Alfie Fernandez Team LiFe).
Encouraged by the INC support, Fernandez said Team Belen-BK team will continue to woo voters to their side in all 31 barangays of Dagupan.
There has been no reaction or statement from the Lim-Fernandez team over the loss of INC endorsement.
In the 2017 election, Fernandez lost the support of the INC while she was then the incumbent mayor. She lost the election by more than 1,200 votes but Kua and seven of their candidates for councilor, won.
The INC in Dagupan is believed to have more than 6,000 voting members.
In the province, it is Fifth District Rep. Ramon Guico III and his running mate incumbent Vice Governor Mark Lambino who clinched the endorsement of the INC. (Leonardo Micua)
