PANGASINAN’S STATUS

PANGASINAN is closer towards attaining a COVID-free status after only four active cases remain in the tally of the Provincial Health Office (PHO), compared to nine on April 14.

Records of the PHO showed there were only four new active cases while eight recoveries were logged from April 15 to 20 with no deaths recorded.  This is so far the lowest number of active cases registered by the province since the start of the pandemic.

The only four remaining COVID cases were in Asingan, Malasiqui, San Carlos City and Sta. Barbara.

This means, there are now 44 towns and 3 cities in the province that are COVID-free.

Provincial health officials are optimistic that if the present trend continues for another week, the province may be COVID-free before the month’s end or before the election.

However, they warned residents not to be complacent because there is a possibility of another surge of the disease after many were seen disregarding the  social distancing protocol during the campaign period.

Pangasinan remains under Alert Level 1 classification. (Leonardo Micua)
