GRAFT, PLUNDER CASES

THE Dagupan City government branded the filing of the complaint for graft and plunder against Mayor Brian Lim and eight other senior officials (of the city government) before the office of the Deputy Ombudsman for Luzon as politically motivated and denounced the publication of the news in The PUNCH.

In a statement signed by Gabriel Cardinoza, head, Public Information Office dated April 18, 2022, he said the city government that at the time of the publication of the complaint, a copy of the same has not been received by the city government nor by any of the official included in the alleged complaint.

The 27-page complaint was  filed by the Small-Scale Fish Consignment  and Retailers at Riverside represented by Marietta Barrientos, the same group that filed a complaint for direct bribery against three officials of the Market Marshals of Dagupan City.

The statement said the basis of the complaint was the 2020 Annual Audit Report and the Commission on Audit (COA) has not filed any complaint against the city government regarding the allegations in the complaint which showed that the city government had already responded to the findings of COA.

Cardinoza said the city government fully respects its friends in the media and agrees on the move to persuade the citizens to get involved and assist in running the affairs of the city government but the published news on the complaint only seeks to destroy the reputation of the city because of the election and politics.

Cardinoza ended the statement quoting the slogan “Our City, Out Shared Responsibility”. (Leonardo Micua)
