Capitol hit by fake news
NOT even the provincial government was spared by trolls spreading fake news about its activities.
An unidentified internet user posted on Facebook that the educational learning materials, particularly the tablets, donated by the provincial government to the Department of Education (DepEd) for all school divisions in Pangasinan, will eventually be recalled by the provincial government.
Provincial Administrator Nimrod Camba belied the claim in his Facebook account on April 11, post and stressed that the provincial government has no intention of recalling the tablets or any of the items donated.
“We want to inform the public that it is not true, and a blatant lie that we are going to recall all the tablets that were already donated to the DepEd,” Camba said, branding the Facebook post as malicious and an attempt to put the provincial government in a bad light.
He added that all the educational materials (e,g tablets, speech labs, modules) that were given to the DepEd for distribution to all its school divisions in Pangasinan are already owned by the latter.
Camba clarified that the provincial government left it to the discretion of DepEd to whom and how the distribution of these educational materials will be made.
According to DepEd, it has established procedures and rules for the proper use of donated educational materials.
Camba said the provincial government wants the educational learning materials to be of help to all schools, teachers and students in Pangasinan.
“The provincial government will never recall the educational learning materials already donated. On the contrary, it wants to add some more of these to be of help in pushing for the benefit and welfare of all learners in Pangasinan.” (Leonardo Micua)
