Sto. Tomas tops Covid vaxx coverage in region
THE local government of Sto. Tomas ranked number one in the second dose coverage of COVID-19 vaccination in Region 1.
Mayor Timoteo Villar III received on March 10 a Certificate of Commendation from the Department of Health (DOH) recognizing and commending the efforts of Santo Tomas, Pangasinan “for pushing for greater COVID-19 vaccination coverage from March 2021 to March 9, 2022, Vaccination Deployment and Campaign”.
It added, “Your perseverance and dedication to protect your community and to reach the most urgent and vulnerable population are beyond the call of normal duties during this time of pandemic.”
Sto. Tomas ranked No. 1 under the Provincial and Highly Urbanized City Level.
The certificate was signed by DOH Region 1 Director Paula Paz Sydiongco, chair of the Regional Vaccination Operations Center.
It was awarded by Sec. Vince Dizon, presidential adviser for COVID-19 response during the ‘Bida sa New Normal Roadshow’ held at the Monarch Hotel in Calasiao.
At the awarding rites were Dr. Anna De Guzman, provincial health officer of Pangasinan, and Office of Civil Defense Regional Director Eugene Cabrera . (Eva Visperas)
