Pangasinan may become COVID-free soon
THE Pangasinan is drawing closer to becoming COVID-free after records of March 10 showed there were only 24 active cases, nine cases lower than the 33 active cases a week ago on March 3.
The recent data released by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed that there were 46 patients that recovered after their home quarantine, compared to 36 new cases and one death logged.
The best indication of the improving COVID situation in Pangasinan was there were 33 of the 48 towns and cities of Pangasinan that already declared COVID-free, with only 15 remaining infected.
It was in the 15 towns and cities where the remaining 24 active COVID-19 cases were found: Malasiqui with three cases, followed by Alcala, Lingayen, Rosales, San Fabian and Sta, Maria (2 each) and Aguilar, Bani, Bayambang, Manaoaqg, Mangatarem San Carlos ( 1 each).
Declared COVID-free were Alaminos City, Anda, Asingan, Balungao, Bautista, Binalonan, Binmaley, Bugallon, Burgos, Calasiao, Dasol, Infanta, Labrador, Laoac, Lingayen, Mabini, Mapandan, Natividad, Pozorrubio, San Jacinto, San Manuel, San Nicolas, San Quintin, Sison, Sta. Barbara, Sto. Tomas, Tayug, Urbiztondo and Villasis.
This brought the total number of cases so far registered in Pangasinan since the start of the pandemic two years ago to 43,010. Of the number, 41,635 had recovered and 1,331 had died.
The Provincial Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the PHO reported that the seven-day daily average of cases from March 4 to 10 was just five cases compared to the seven-day dairy average of cases from February 25 to March 3 at seven cases.
Health officials are optimistic that unless the new Deltacron variant (a combination of Delta and Omicron), first detected in the United States, France and other parts of Europe, will again be transported to the Philippines, Pangasinan has a big chance to become COVID-free soon. (Leonardo Micua)
