Pangasinan aims to be first COVD-free province in region
ONLY 33 ACTIVE CASES ON HOME CARE
ONLY 33 active cases, all asymptomatic and with mild symptoms and needed no hospitalization, remained in Pangasinan as of March 3, bolstering its bid to become the first COVID-free province in the region.
From February 24-March 3, 56 patients recovered and discharged from their home quarantine and isolation while 42 new cases were logged while two persons had died.
According to the Provincial Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Provincial Health Office (PHO), the daily seven-day average from February 19-25 was only 11 compared to the daily average of 18 cases from February 12-18.
With the continuing downward trend of cases, Pangasinan and Dagupan City, together with the rest of the Ilocos region, their risk classification have been downgraded to Alert Level 1.
However, Pangasinan still deemed to impose a shorter curfew from 12 midnight to 4:00 a.m. to ensure that the disease will not stage a comeback within its jurisdiction.
As of February 28, Dagupan City listed 21 active cases, still the highest in Pangasinan.
Urdaneta City and Pozorrubio followed with four cases each; Aguilar, Bayambang, Mangaldan, San Fabian and San Jacinto had 2 cases each, while Balungao, Binalonan, Binmaley, Calasiao, Manaoag, Mapandan, Rosales, Sam Manuel and San Quintin had 1 case each.
As of March 3, there were now only 15 infected towns while 23 were COVID-19 free. (Leonardo Micua)
