SENATOR and presidential aspirant Manny Pacquaio wooed voters in vote-rich Pangasinan in his two-day campaign sorties held in different towns in the province on March 2 and 3.

Speaking in Filipino before a jampacked crowd at the Binmaley Evacuation Center which was inaugurated on March 2 and to witness the State of the Municipality Address of Mayor Simplicio Rosario, the world boxing legend Pacquaio stressed that corruption is the root of all problems being faced by the country.

“And most of all, the mission of Manny Pacquaio is to jail thieves in government,” he said, that draw loud cheers from the crowd.

He said the problems besetting the country is rooted in corruption. “I really hate thieves, ” he intoned.

“This is the cancer of our country that makes us not rise from poverty,” he added.

He said if corruption is stopped, more money will be saved that can be used instead to fund projects that will benefit more Filipinos.

From each of his boxing title fights, he said he gave 50 percent of his earnings to the people.

“That is the proof of Manny Pacqiuao that I am not saying something that I do not fulfill,” he said.

Pacquiao said having no food to eat when he was younger due to extreme poverty was his biggest nightmare in life so he is not talking to the people to impress them. Rather, he said he is talking in front of them because “I feel the hardship being experienced by fellow Filipinos.”

He said the promises being made (by some candidates) like shelter, employment, free education “I have been doing that since long before I entered politics… from my own pocket”.

The senator said he believes he can do more for Filipino families if he is elected as president, like creation of more jobs, better benefits for senior citizens, teachers, youths, housing, education and a lot more.

After his Binmaley stint, he then motored to the capital town of Lingayen, San Carlos City and Dagupan.

The following day, he graced a boodle fight activity in Poblacion Oeste in Dagupan, and then back to Lingayen to meet with Christian group and pastors from La Union and ended his tour in Urdaneta City to meet his supporters. (Eva Visperas)
