Isko: Endorsement of the people better than religious groups
MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso said he and his vice presidential candidate Dr. Willie Ong and their three senatorial bets need no endorsement from the religious sector to win in the May 9 elections because its the endorsement of the townspeople that will make them win.
Speaking to newsmen during a campaign sortie in Dagupan attended by some 8,000 people that packed the CSI Stadia on February 18, the Aksyon Demokratiko presidential candidate said, the most valuable endorsement for him is the endorsement of the people coming from their hearts.
He said he felt this in their three-day campaign in Northern Luzon, the bailiwick of one of his opponents Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Moreno said the warm reception they got in Dagupan and in other towns of Pangasinan as well as in La Union earlier did not show that the so-called Solid North is all for Marcos.
He said he likened this to one household where there are five voters, and he’d be happy too voting for him.
He told his audience:: Matigas man ang bulalo, dahil sa pagpupursigi, lalambot din.
“The love that the people give and the words that they expressed wherever we go—in the highways, roads sides and in places like this (CSI Stadia) —is our best inspiration in this campaign,” said Moreno.
While in Dagupan, he proclaimed the entire Aksyon Demokratiko team of former Mayor Belen Fernandez and Vice Mayor Bryan Kua.
Saying his team will reach out wherever there are people including those in the high mountains, Moreno thanked the people of Northern Luzon for giving him and his team a warm welcome.
Moreno said that if he succeeds in this election, he will cut the tax on oil by 50 percent and electricity by 20 percent to ease the burden of the people, especially the poor.
On oil, he predicts that its price will continue to go sky high and more if the war between Russia and Ukraine breaks out.
He said with a new international airport soon rising in Bulacan and the presence of the Clark international airport in Pampanga, there may be a need to close the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and dispose of the huge land that it occupies for conversion into high-end real estate to be offered to Filipinos and foreign investors.
