DOH identifies 8 pilot areas in Pangasinan
FOR VAX OF KIDS AGED 5 to 11
THE Department of Health Ilocos Center for Health Development (DOH CHD-1) has identified 17 pilot areas for the rollout of the pediatric vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
To make the launching sites 100 percent operational before the actual vaccination kickoff, the DOH CHD-1 has started distributing the vaccines beginning Saturday.
The pilot areas include three DOH-retained hospitals: Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center in San Fernando City, La Union; Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; and the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Batac City, Ilocos Norte.
In Pangasinan, other pilot areas are the Villaflor Memorial Hospital, Pangasinan Provincial Hospital, Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital, Urdaneta District Hospital, Lingayen District Hospital, Western Pangasinan District Hospital and Bayambang District Hospital.
Dr. Rheuel C. Bobis, COVID-19 focal person of the DOH CHD-1, said the first 57,600 doses of Pfizer vaccines will be used for the vaccination among the youngest population.
Currently, the Pfizer vaccine is the only vaccine that was given the emergency use authorization (EUA) for kids between five and 11 years old from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The total projected population of 5-11 years old in Region 1 is 731,334. (PIA-Pangasinan/JPD)
