PPPO eyes four towns as areas of concern
PEACE AND ORDER DURING ELECTION PERIOD
THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) is evaluating four towns that may be listed as areas of immediate concern during the election period.
P/Lt. Col. Ferdinand de Asis, PPPO Information Officer, in an interview Wednesday, January 12, identified the towns of Urbiztondo, Sual, Sto. Tomas, and Sison as initial areas being evaluated for the duration of the campaign and election period that began on Sunday, January 9.
He said the four towns have been marred with election-related incidents in previous elections.
He clarified that as an area of concern, there is already a breakdown of peace and order but rather to ensure that no violence in the past will be repeated.
De Asis also said there are still no identified private armed groups operating in the province but prospective groups who could be used during the election period are being monitored.
Meanwhile, he confirmed that the province remains insurgency-free.
He said the 18 regional border quarantine checkpoints, in addition to twenty anti-criminality checkpoints in the province have not seen or felt any movement form communist groups. (Ahikam Pasion)
