Dagupan: 402 active cases as of January 13

AFTER the Alert Level 3 classification of Dagupan was extended by the IATF to January 31 like Pangasinan, its active COVID-19 cases already ballooned to 402 on January 13 with 102 new cases added to the tally with just one recovery and no death was recorded.

The 102 new cases recorded on January 13 was so far the biggest number of cases since COVID-19 resurged during the early days of the new year, spawning speculations the highly transmittable COVID-19 variant already to enter the city.

As gleaned from records shared by the city’s Public Information Office, the number of cases started to pick up on January 4 when it first registered new cases in double-digit figures at 12. Then the cases followed an upward trend till it hit a triple digit figure of 102.

As of January 13, Bonuan Gueset topped the city’s 31 barangays with 61 active cases, followed by Pantal (59), Tapuac (32), Caranglaan (30), Bonuan Boquig (28), Mayombo (25), Lucao (17), Malued (15), Bolosan, Poblacion Oeste and Tambac (13 each), Mangin (12), Pogo Chico (11) and Pogo Grande (10).

All the 110 isolation units were already reactivated to accommodate the new COVID-19 positives, said Dr, Ophelia Rivera, the city’s COVID-19 focal person.

Meanwhile, the Dagupan City Astrodome, where vaccination is being conducted, was closed temporarily for disinfection. (Leonardo Micua)
