All courts closed due to rising COVID-19 cases
IN PANGASINAN, DAGUPAN CITY
DUE to the rising COVID-19 cases, the Supreme Court has declared all courts in Dagupan City and in other parts of the country under Alert Level 3 physically closed from January 13 to 31.
This was contained in two-page Memorandum Order No 10-2022 signed on January 12, 2022 by Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo.
The Chief Justice ordered that all the courts from the Supreme Court to the first level courts, will be physical closed to all court users and may be reached only through their respective hotlines, email addresses and Facebook accounts.
The memorandum directs suspension of all in-court hearings but videoconferencing hearings may proceed on urgent matter such as inquests, bail hearings for Petition for Bail, Promulgation of acquittals or dismissals in criminal cases, Temporary or Protection Orders under Republic Act No. 9262, Habeas Corpus Petitions, Petition for Writ of Amparo, and similar cases, and election related cases.
Judges are encouraged to examine the possibility of bail or recognizance for violation of ordinances or appropriate crimes.
Litigants, lawyers, prosecutors and the general public are advised to call the proper court through its hotlines or access it through its email addresses or Facebook account, if available, to determine if the matter being raised is urgent. (Leonardo Micua)
