San Nicolas attains 73% herd immunity

WITH 73 percent of its eligible population already administered with anti-Covid-19 vaccines, the town of San Nicolas became the first local government unit in Pangasinan to achieve herd immunity.

The town’s accomplishment, inoculating 17,437 out of 23,759, was officially narrated in Executive Order No. 35 issued by Mayor Alicia Primicias-Enriquez.

Governor Amado Espino III, hailed the town’s achievement and announced that it has earned the “Unrestricted” classification, meaning previous restrictions are relaxed in accordance with the provincial executive order.

The town was also the first to rollout the vaccination for its pediatric population (12 – 17 years old with or without comorbidities).

So far, the town has only 20 active cases, a significant decrease from the 90 cases in the first week of October.

Among the salient features of the mayor’s EO 35 include: Persons below 15 years old and above 65 years old shall continue to remain in their residences except for obtaining essential goods and services; Children five years old and above may be allowed to go outdoor only with adult supervision; Every person is required to practice the minimum public health standards (i.e. wearing of face mask at all times, physical distancing of at least 1 meter, frequent handwashing, avoidance of eating in communal areas)

Also, curfew hour is at 10 p.m. – 4 a.m.

Although public gatherings are still discouraged, a 50 percent seating or venue capacity will continue to be implemented on essential congregation or meetings.

Traveling authorized persons outside of residence (APORs) still need to present a valid or government-issued ID, a travel order or itinerary, other proof of authority to travel, and must undergo health and exposure screening upon arrival in San Nicolas.

Still not allowed to enter the town are APORs from ECQ, MECQ and areas under granular lockdown, Alert level 4 and 5 and will be required to be fully vaccinated, register with S-PASS, and will be subjected to health and exposure screening upon arrival in San Nicolas,.

All persons, except APORs, must secure an S-Pass travel requirement to enter town.

The town’s tourism sites, Malico and Agpay Eco Tourism Park are still temporarily closed.

Mayor Enriquez thanked the residents for their cooperation and said she looks forward
