Region 1 registers 27 new ‘Delta’ cases
THE Ilocos Center for Health and Development (DOH-CHD-1) logged 27 new cases of the more transmissible COVID-19-Delta variant last Monday, August 30, bringing the total to 49 cases in Region 1.
DOH-CHD-1 COVID-19 focal person Dr. Rheuel Bobis said the results of the genome sequencing of the 27 cases were sent to them last week.
Bobis said they are waiting for the confirmation or announcement of concerned local government units before CHD 1 can list the new cases in their reports.
Among the new Delta cases were one case in Dagupan City and five in Ilocos Sur.
Meanwhile, the health care utilization rate in the region last week was 71 percent.
In Ilocos Norte, hospital bed utilization rate was 51%, Ilocos Sur, 64 %; La Union, 77 %; Pangasinan, 72 %; and Dagupan City, an independent component city, 86%.
Meanwhile, the provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) filed a request to place the province, including Dagupan City, under general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions from September 1 to 15. (Jerick Pasiliao)
