Region 1 logs 600- 800 COVID-19 cases daily

MORE THAN 150% SURGE

THE continued surged in COVID-19 cases, already averaging 600-800 cases daily, is becoming as serious concern for the Ilocos Center for Health Development (CHD 1).

CHD 1 COVID-19 focal person Dr. Rheuel Bobis said the new average, up from a 300 daily average in previous months, increased by 150% on the average.

CHD’s data on Aug. 22 alone, the region registered 812 new COVID-19 cases with Pangasinan logging the most with 289, followed by Ilocos Norte with 267; Ilocos Sur (150); La Union (80) and Dagupan City with 26 new cases.

The total cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the regionp is 49,375.

So far, 20 confirmed COVID-19 Delta variant cases were detected in the region: 17 in Ilocos Norte and three in Pangasinan.

Bobis urged the public anew not to fail to get their vaccines on appointed days since allocation of vaccines remain irregular and reminded all, including the vaccinated persons, to continuously observe the health and safety protocols, particularly proper wearing of face masks and shield and to consciously keep their distance in public areas to avoid the possibility of infection.
