No signs of surge in COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan
ONLY MINIMAL INCREASE
THE number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan ballooned to 15,733 as 654 new active cases were added from August 6 to 12, effectively raising the total number of active COVID-19 cases in the province to 295.
There were only 463 cases that recovered in that span of seven days, bringing up the total number of recoveries to 14,365 while the death toll was pegged at 450 with just two deaths recorded the past week.
The 925 active cases recorder from August 12 is only 189 higher than the 734 cases logged on August 5, considered a modest increase and was not an indication that it was the effect of the COVID-19 variants that were detected in two separate areas in the province, the Beta variant in Mangaldan and the Delta variant in Natividad.
Nevertheless, the two men, one a newly arrived seaman, who became positive of these variants, had already recovered based on the data of the Municipal Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) of Mangaldan and in the case of the Delta in Natividad, he and his close contacts already turned in negative results.
But the situation in Mangaldan appears to be a bit worrying. As of August 12, it already registered 55 active cases, 18 were new cases. On August 5 when the Beta variant has just been discovered, the town had only 35 active cases.
The new cases in Mangaldan were: six in Barangay Amansabina, three in Poblacion, two in Salay, and one each in Guiguilonen, Landas, Malabago and Osiem.
Based on the monitoring of the Provincial Health Office (PHO), all the 48 towns and cities of Pangasinan are already infected by COVID-19.
According the PHO, those with the highest number of cases are Dagupan 117 cases, San Carlos City (67), Lingayen (53), Calasiao (51), Mangaldan (51), Urdaneta City (49), Bugallon, (36), Malasiqui (34), San Fabian (30), Manaoag (29), Binmaley (28), Sison (26), Villasis (25) and Bayambang (21).
